Be A Failure-Here’s 3 Reasons Why

Wow, his month been a major dose of reality. It seems that each day has been riddled with one disappointment after another. I’ve become very discouraged and began to question my choices.

Recently I’ve had some real growth experiences. Specifically I’ve struggled at with developing my skills at work, being prepared for school, parenting my children, staying healthy – physically and emotionally and setting boundaries with my personal relationships.

I’m not used to failing. My experience is to be really good at everything I do. So, this morning as I was sitting in my bathtub lamenting over all of my recent failures, I decided that there must be a silver lining to this dark and daunting cloud.

5 Surprising Tips for Better Communicating

Good, reliable communication is essential to any good relationship. At one time I thought of myself as an excellent communicator. No so much anymore. Today I don’t seem to be able to get my point across.

I wonder if it’s because my point of view is skewed. Maybe it’s because I am using the wrong approach. I don’t know what the hang up is so I’m always interested when I come across an article about being a better communicator.

Authenticity

At what point in our lives do we become un-authentic? Look at your kids. Aren’t they completely authentic? They know how to love themselves, be bold, celebrate who they are, express themselves, be fearless and they know who they are. What happens between 4 and 40 to change the state in which we are naturally made?

Maybe this is a rhetorical question but I think it’s worth the debate. Here’s why.

Why

Morbid curiosity caused me to click the link for the article I’ve included under our Oprah Power link heading below. Fear, compassion, and kinship filled my heart as I read Susan Klebold’s words.

Who is Susan Klebold? Does her name sound familiar to you? It should. Her son Dylan was one of the pair that wreaked havoc at Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado 10 years ago.

As I read through her confession tears began to well in my eyes and my chest became tight. I remember where I was when I heard on the news of this terrible tragedy. This hit especially close to me because I lived in Littleton for a while growing up. My sister graduated from Columbine High School. I know the street, the neighborhood and the types of families that live in this suburb of Denver, CO.

Letter To My Husband

Today is our 6 year wedding anniversary. Today is a sad day for me. In 4 days our divorce will be final. That will be a sad day for me as well.

Four months ago I was a very angry woman. I felt powerless, walked upon, unappreciated and worthless. The manner in which we interacted with one another made me feel like that. I longed for a little bit of kindness, honesty, nurturing and love from you. I received neglect, dishonesty and apathy.

Today I am much happier. Today I love and nurture myself. I don’t wait to receive it from you.

Co-parenting

Today I’m trying very hard to remember to conduct myself with grace and dignity. Anytime I get overwhelmed with my emotions, I practice my deep breathing and pray to God for Grace and Dignity. I do this because I know that I have the black beast lurking right there on my shoulder, ready to take me down that ugly emotional highway. You know the one…you say things you don’t mean, you get all worked up and suddently you have become this raving lunatic that doesn’t remotely resemble anyone that you would recongnize?

Happiness

As much as we all think we want it, many of us are convinced, deep down, that it’s wrong to be happy (or too happy). Whether the belief comes from religion, culture, or the family you were raised in, it usually leaves you feeling guilty if you’re having fun.

1. Happy people find their most golden self.
What is making you happy? Material things, shopping, approval addictions or are you engaged in a more centered cerebral happiness? Researchers say that, people that are purposefully engaged in life, (pursued self-development) weighed less, slept better, and had fewer stress hormones and markers for heart disease than others.
